O'Grady In Charge

Matt O'Grady has taken over as first team captain for the 2009 season replacing James Davies who has moved to Bradford and Bingley. Matt has spent all but three games of his career at Cross Green and will be looking to bring in some long overdure silverware to the Club.

Davies, last years leading Aire-Wharfe bowler, will leave a large hole in the line up but O'Grady has moved swiftly to plug it by signing Australian Dale Tormey to replace him. Tormey scored well over 1,000 runs for Knaresborough last season and took over 30 wickets so big things are expected from the 19 year old as he makes the step up to the A division.

Robert Atkinson is another leaving the Club, returning for another spell at Guiseley. His departure gives a great opportunity to John Brough to cement a place in the side after some promising first team outings last season. Apart from those two major changes, the squad remains the same as last season with Dave Taylor available again to challenge Paul Nicholson for the gloves.

Otley have been handed a very tough start to the season with title favourites Beckwithshaw visiting on the opening day of the season followed up by a local derby at Burley. Visits to Rawdon and North Leeds and a home game against last years double winners Kirkstall makes for a challenging first five games.
